In May 1905, Chas L. Bustin and Sam Withers, the founders of Bustins & Withers' new furniture store opened its doors in the Lordly Building, at 99 Germain Street . In establishing their new store, Bustin & Withers endeavored to provide customers with a large selection of fine quality furniture and personal service. Their slogan of the day was "furniture built up to a standard not down to a price".
Bustin later became sole proprietor of the business, operating under the name of Chas. L. Bustin Furniture until his death. He was succeeded by his nephew Stanley Bustin Sr in 1927, who expanded the store and changed the name to Bustin's Fine Furniture Ltd.

In 1948, Stanley Bustin Jr. bought the business from his father and over the next 39 years he contributed to both the size and vision of Bustin's Fine Furniture. Through Stan's hard work and honesty, Bustin's has grown from a small local business to one which is respected throughout Atlantic Canada for its unique quality furniture and dependable personal service.
Since its humble beginning, the fourth generation of Bustin's Furniture continues to evolve, answering the needs of clients and responding to the changes of time with the best home furnishing lines in Atlantic Canada. By focusing on craftsmanship and quality, Bustin's carved a market niche, which allowed it to thrive while other furniture retailers were reducing prices and the quality of their product.
Since 1986, Stan's sons, Tom and Bob Bustin, serve as president and vice-president respectively. They changed the store atmosphere to coordinated room settings to display the furniture as you would in your own home, and they offer decorating advice which is tremendous help for anyone putting a room together.
